Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Even as
adventure movies get released in Hollywood by the
dozens every few months or so, the Indiana Jones
films, starring Harrison Ford, made by Steven
Spielberg and George Lucas in 1980s exist in a
league of their own. Nineteen years down the lane,
several flicks have tried to emulate the intrigue of
the Indiana Jones movies and come off looking like
nothing but an inferior mimicry of the original.
However, on 22nd May 2008, there’s every
possibility that the three Indiana Jones films will
be seriously challenged. That’s the day Indiana
Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, the
fourth Indiana Jones film is releasing all over the
world.
Harrison Ford returns to play an older Indiana
Jones joined by others like Shia LaBeouf, Cate
Blanchett, Jim Broadbent, and Ray Winstone. The plot
of the Crystal Skull film has been guarded securely
and recent rumors of leaks led to widespread media
coverage. Director Spielberg promises that the
excitement quotient in the Indiana Jones Crystal
Skull adventure will surpass all previous ones.
However, the Indiana Jones
Crystal Skull connection has opened up some very
interesting angles. Since the crystal skull itself
has various legends ascribed to it including
extraterrestrial associations and it being the
fountainhead of ultimate power, Indy is likely to be
in for the adventure of his life. He’s reported to
be fighting against Russian baddies this time, led
by Cate Blanchett. The appearance of Karen Allen as
Marion Ravenwood, Jones’s ex-girlfriend, might
suggest a possible romantic linkup as well.
Until the
Indiana Jones trailer is released possibly during
Christmas time, the world will have to wait to get a
taste of the Crystal Skull film. It’s guaranteed
that, with the kind of potential that the Crystal
Skull element brings to the storyline, Indiana
Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is
bound to be an absolute action feast.
