There
are not many actors out there who can outrun a
speeding boulder, leap over ditches, or lash a whip
while riding a horse without looking at least
slightly ludicrous. However, Harrison Ford, as
Indiana Jones, does all this and more, and still
ends up looking like the world’s greatest
adventurer. Throughout the three Indian Jones films,
Harrison Ford has given unforgettable performances.
That’s why Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the
Crystal Skull, set to release in 2008, is so highly
anticipated. Ford, 65, dons the robe of Indiana
Jones yet again.
Raiders of the Lost Ark featured some impressive
villains. Paul Freeman who played Jones’s arch
nemesis Rene Belloq, Ronald Lacey as Arnold Toht, a
Nazi interrogator and Wolf Kahler as Colonel
Dietrich, a ruthless Nazi all did justice to their
roles. Karen Allen lent her charm as Marion
Ravenwood, Jones’s ex-girlfriend. John Rhys-Davies
played Sallah, Jones’s old friend who assists him in
finding the Ark.
In the
second Indiana Jones film, Jones has two associates
with whom he ventures into the Temple of Doom-
Willie Scott played by Kate Capshaw and Short Round,
played by Ke Huy Quan. Late Indian actor, Amrish
Puri, played the role of the sinister villain, Mola
Ram. Dan Aykroyd made a small appearance in the
movie as well.
In The
Last Crusade, the legendary Sean Connery joined the
cast as Jones’s father, Prof. Henry Jones. John
Rhys-Davies reprised his role as Sallah and Alison
Doody acted as the deceptive Dr. Elsa Schneider.
Julian Glover portrayed Walter Donovan, the greedy
businessman desiring the Holy Grail.
In the
upcoming movie, depicting the
Indiana Jones
Crystal Skull connection, Shia LeBeouf of
Transporters fame joins the cast along with heavy
performers like Cate Blanchett, Ray Winstone, and
Jim Broadbent. Karen Allen will reprise her role as
Marion Ravenwood. All four Indiana Jones movies are
directed by Steven Spielberg and have George Lucas
as the chief storyteller.
